Gerald Wesley White, age 78, went to his heavenly home on July 14, 2024. He was born on December 19, 1945, in Portales, New Mexico. Gerald was preceded in death by his oldest son, Garrie White, in 2019, his parents, Jim and Jerri White, and his brother, Bob White. He is survived by his loving wife, Jan, for 59 years and son, Jason White and wife, Hillary, of Arlington Heights, Illinois. His precious grandchildren include Isaac, Calvin, and Miriam. He is also survived by one brother, Charles and wife, Marka, of The Woodlands, Texas, and four sisters-in-law Ginger Howell, Margie Ahring, Ann Kristin Morgan, Kathy White, and their families.
Gerald's faith was an important part of his life. He was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Church in Blue Springs, MO, for many years, finding solace and strength in his weekly visits. His love for the church was unwavering, and he never missed a Sunday, a testament to his deep-rooted faith.
Gerald’s family moved to Muleshoe, Texas, where Gerald was a high school football standout for the Muleshoe Mules. Gerald attended West Texas State University, Texas Tech University, and Wayland Baptist University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science Technology. He worked as an EMT and firefighter for the Plainview Fire Department. In 1989, Gerald moved his family to Blue Springs, MO, where he worked for Suburban Homes, traveled as a Project Superintendent for Hendry & Co, and finally for Rick Ahring Construction for many years. Gerald was a Veteran, having served in the Navy and was discharged with a medical condition. He was a true patriot who loved this country.
Gerald loved all of his family and many, many friends. He loved his Shriner family as well, along with shooting pool, golfing, and singing karaoke. Gerald was an animal lover, and had a soft heart for any animal, especially his dogs, Nina and Abby. He was also a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
The family would like to thank Parkway Memory Care, Jackson Creek Memory Care, and Crossroads Hospice for caring for this wonderful man. Per Gerald’s wishes, he will be cremated.
On 8-26-24, visitation with the family will be held at 10:00AM prior to the memorial service at 11:00, at Cornerstone Church, 301 SE AA Hwy, Blue Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald’s honor to Crossroads Hospice or to Cornerstone Church.
