Lees Summit

Kenneth Leon Swisher, born on March 25, 1951, in Shibley's Point, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home in Lee's Summit, Missouri, on March 10, 2025. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Brenda, a loving father to his children, Jen and Ken (Laura), and a doting grandfather to Hailey and Wesley. He also leaves behind an extensive family which he loved with his whole heart.

We celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose steadfast love and devotion touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. With his family and friends at the center of his world, he built a life filled with kindness, strength, and unwavering support.

A broadcast engineer by trade and a farmer at heart, Kenneth was a man of both innovation and tradition. His hands brought ideas to life—solving problems with precision and creativity—while his connection to the land reflected his deep appreciation for farming. He was an avid ham radio hobbyist (call sign KS0O), muscle car enthusiast, and former little league baseball coach.

Kenneth had deep respect and love for his parents and his upbringing on a farm in Shibley's Point. He spent several years during his youth helping run the farm and creating mischief with his three cherished brothers, Denny, Chris, and Todd. His two favorite times of the year were the annual hunting trip in the fall and hay season in the late summer with his father and brothers.

Kenneth's love story with Brenda began when he met her in a third-grade classroom. Brenda thought he was a little too wild and crazy at first. However, he eventually charmed his way into her heart and their love blossomed into 53 years of marriage.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, determination, and the memories of countless moments spent in the warmth of his company. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, yet his spirit will forever inspire those he held dear. We hope to honor his memory by upholding his spirit of compassion and integrity.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the fields he loved, and reunited with his parents, his brother Todd, his son Brandon, and all the loved ones who went before him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the National Association for Amateur Radio (ARRL). Contributions can be made in memory of Kenneth Swisher (KS0O) to support the advancement of amateur radio. Donations can be made online by visiting www.arrl.org/donate
