Vandy Rogers lived in Kansas City, MO and Lincoln, NE. He passed away peacefully on the morning of October 8, 2024 at the age of 77. Vandy was born on November 27, 1946 in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
He was a devoted husband, hard worker, loving, kind, astute and loyal grandfather. Vandy was a funny, outgoing family man in constant motion, with a love of life and food. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and never missed an opportunity to help someone in need.
Vandy married Linda Talbert on May 7, 1970 and had two children, Vanessa and Venetia; they later divorced. Vandy married Patricia Moore on August 9, 1997, along with her four children: Bill, Larry, Bob and Patty.
Vandy worked for Good Year and retired as a USPS mechanic. He was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam. In his years in the Army he was a heavy equipment mechanic & operator. He loved to read crime stories. He was a great family man and a valued family advisor. He enjoyed odd jobs, gardening, helping others and especially loved being with his grandchildren.
Vandy was preceded in death by his parents Mildred Saler and Vandy Rogers Sr.; brothers: Richard, Glen, James and David; sister Peggy Hunter; and stepson Bill Moore. He is survived by his wife Patricia Rogers; sisters: June Schiller, Jeanie Ward, Stella Garrison, Kathy Swain, Norma Valentine and Linda Gibbons; brothers: Preston Rogers, Michael Rogers, and half-brothers Robert Rogers and Randy Rogers; daughters: Vanessa Goemann and Venetia Reimnitz; stepdaughter Patty Dimarco; stepsons: Larry Moore Sr. and Bob Moore. Grandchildren include: Ashley Sasse, Richard Goemann, Layna Reimnitz, Eric Moore, Bryan Moore, Kristin Moore, Jeni Harris, Larry Moore Jr., Marissa Patchin, Zach Moore, Jacob Moore, Madison Moore, Ashley Dimarco, Lynsy Dimarco, Emily Dimarco and 9 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Vandy’s life will be held on October 11, 2024 at 2 pm at the Valor-Brown funeral home with a family viewing at 12 pm and public viewing at 1 pm. Aspen's Chapel at Valor-Brown Funeral Services, 30000 Valor Dr., Grain Valley, MO 64029. Phone: 816-295-8821
